Mehlman Myron A.

Dr. Myron A. Mehlman is currently Adjunct Professor of Environmental and Community Medicine at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York since 1980. Born in 1934, Dr. Mehlman was educated at Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas, and at City College of New York (B.S. 1957), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Ph.D. 1964), the University of Wisconsin (Post Doctoral Fellow, Institute for Enzyme Research, 1967), and the Harvard Business School (Program for Health Systems Management, 1974). His academic appointments include Associate Professor of Biochemistry (1967-1969) at Rutgers University, and Professor of Biochemistry (1969-1974) at University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He is also on the faculty as Professor at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, Rutgers School of Pharmacy, and New York University Medical School. In addition to serving as Chairman of the First and Second National Meetings of the American College of Toxicology, he has chaired numerous symposia at Rutgers University, The University of Nebraska College of Medicine, FASEB, NIH, FDA, Italy, Japan, Sweden and at many other locations. His professional memberships include President-international Society of Exposure Analysis, The American Society of Biological Chemists, The American Physiological Society, American Institute of Nutrition, American Society for Experimental Therapeutics and Pharmacology, The American Chemical Society, The Society of Toxicology, The American College of Toxicology (past president), The American Industrial Hygiene Society. He is a Director and North American Secretariat of Collegium Ramazzini, Air Pollution Control Association, New York Academy of Sciences, Sigma Xi, Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, Society for Risk Analysis and American College of Nutrition.

Dr. Mehlmanis also the founding editor of the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, and the Journal of Environmental Pathology and Toxicology. He has been series editor for Advances in Modern Nutrition, Advances in Human Nutrition, Advances in Modern Toxicology, Advances in Modern Environmental Toxicology, Symposium on Metabolic Regulation. From 1977-1979 Dr. Mehlman was the first and founding president of American College of Toxicology.

Dr. Mehlman is also a member of a number of Editorial Boards of Toxicology Journals. He was elected to the Academy of Toxicological Sciences and was elected Fellow of the American College of Toxicology.

Since 1962, Dr. Mehlman has published approximately 160 articles in the field of toxicology, biochemistry, nutrition and human health. He had edited and coedited approximately 50 books.
