Dr. Cogliano is the head of the IARC Monographs program at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France. The IARC Monographs provide a critical review and consensus evaluation of the weight of the evidence for agents suspected of causing cancer in humans. Dr. Cogliano received his Ph.D. from Cornell University, then he worked for 20 years in quantitative risk assessment at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, DC. His last activity there was to lead the writing group that finished revision of EPA's cancer guidelines, including a supplemental guidance for assessing cancer susceptibility from early-life exposures. Major professional interests include cancer hazard assessment, qualitative and quantitative health risk assessment in general and identification of susceptible populations and life-stages.
